the second episode of the first season of Black Mirror is really good. check that out. I'm typically not drawn to movies like that though.

gattaca is ok, i dont love it but its a fine film
brazil is one of my favorite movies ever, and its what i think of when i imagine a goofy/gratuitous "vision of the future". children of men is the best realistic portrayal of a future world, though. it is also one of my favorites
uhhh, a boy and his dog, the road, blade runner are more dirty and "sad". i dont like the road very much, i think it is overhyped. a boy and his dog i saw once and it's good, but only that. i prefer the source-novel's take on blade runner and deckard a lot more than i like the movie, but the movie is good
of course, robocop should be there but is pretty much an entirely different monster. also one of my all time favorite films

yeah children of men is great. I think gattaca's picture of the world is too far from our current one to really warrant any direct prediction, but it serves as a very fine analogy if viewed with a generalized mindset
I really like the scenes in children of men which are just single-take, no music playing in the background action. the car scene in particular really drew me in. brazil just felt so surreal, like everything was just happening in a dream and had little coherency but i was high so idk
it's been some time since i saw blade runner, but i remember it feeling a bit like a weakly imagined neuromancer(theme-wise) written by a student of classic literature. havent seen a boy and his dog, which robocop are you talking about? the old one?
which reminds me, planet of the apes with charlton heston is a beast

brazil seemed like in a dream? yeah if that is odd to you, you outta rewatch it. it is stylistically designed to be that way™
old, original robocop. the new one is billy-goating dumb trash please dont waste your time

Fifth element, 12 monkeys and looper are all futuristic movies coincidentally involving Bruce Willis that I think are pretty good

The Room takes place in an alternate reality San Francisco where breast cancer isn't a big deal anymore. I wonder what other cancers have been eradicated.

i thought looper was good. maybe a bit limited in scope, but i think it works in the films favor for the most part it's not really a movie with a "vision" about the future though, it's more of a quirk that allows for an interesting story
has anyone seen solaris (the russian one)? prolly gonna watch that next
