it was shallow as billy-goat and tried just as hard as 500 days of summer did the fact that its european doesnt change that fact but whatever its all opinion i cant stand movies like that that try so hard to go outside the mainstream which both undeniably did

if you can honestly say neither one of those movies tried to appeal to dumbass "quirky" people in their late teens and early 20s you probably didnt watch either

but the point is dont watch submarine because it tries to appeal to the same people who liked 500 days of summer and that speaks enough about it

i don't see how though because they are quite differently made i can see why you'd say submarine tries hard to be different and i can also see why you can not like it since it's not an amazing movie but still it has lots of good things and it certainly doesn't try to appeal to the same audience as 500 days of summer that is just a stupid love movie with literally nothing else and the only attempt to be different is the avoidance of a happy story with a happy ending between the two whereas submarine is not just about the presence of a love story which is just part of the movie
also the dialogues are actually more clever than anything ever said in 500 days and what i mean with one being european and the other american is not literally the country where it's made but the transparency of an american and european style in each of them which if u deny means u know nothing about european cinema and its history
