what instruments do you play? when did you start playing it? how would you describe yourself as a player? what type of music do you enjoy playing the most? also are there any late learners here (>18)  ? share your experiences. i recently started studying the piano with my uncle's help and my main problem right now is dexterity but it's slowly getting better. share videos of you playing if you have any. |

I bought a classical guitar when I was about...16 or 17 I guess. didn't know the difference between nylon and steel strings back then. I took a couple lessons til my dad couldn't afford it anymore and I just kinda plucked stuff for a couple years. at like 23 I started taking it a little more seriously since im stuck in this shit hole anyway. I don't know how to play any full songs (from other people) but I haven't really tried. I just play my own stuff and record it on a sony digital recorder. occasionally if I 'm trying to figure out what the billy-goat I'm actually playing I'll use this chordbook thing I have. self-taught basically  EDIT: also I wish I started with piano when I was younger. I really wanted to, but again we didn't have the money. |

what instruments do you play?I play a number of instruments: Euphonium Baritone, Trombone, Violin, Bass and Guitar when did you start playing it?I started Violin when I was in 3rd grade, although I don't play it too much anymore but I would love to pick it up again. I started the Baritone in 6th grade and played it until 12th, I don't really care for it too much. I started Trombone in 7th grade and it is really fun to play, I played it in jazz band. Guitar is my favorite and have been playing since 11th grade. what instruments do you play?Guitar primarily though I'm not very good. I would love to play drums when did you start playing it? 20 or something. how would you describe yourself as a player? Awful. Never practiced enough. what type of music do you enjoy playing the most? I've dabbled with some metal, some rock, some pop also are there any late learners here (>18) ? share your experiences. Yes. And I wish I would have learned earlier. My mother can sing very well, as can my sister, but I cannot (though I want to take lessons) and I feel like anything musically wasn't nurtured in me. Decided to play on my own i recently started studying the piano with my uncle's help and my main problem right now is dexterity but it's slowly getting better. I have problems with both hands. Sucks playing chords sometimes because my hands cramp almost instantly.

stealing diehard's response format: what instruments do you play?in order of proficiency: bass guitar, vocals, alto saxophone, drums/percussion, guitar, piano/keys when did you start playing it?started with a keyboard at age 8, joined school band with sax at 12, picked up an acoustic guitar at 15, landed on bass guitar at 16 which has been my primary instrument since, learned drums in my 20's how would you describe yourself as a player?professional  what type of music do you enjoy playing the most? I played the violin and then viola, I played in school orchestra and reached grade 7 level but stopped when I went to university
