hello every ppl
what are you playing in the video games this month
i am playing path of exile as always. the new update came out. the game is getting better for old players and worse for new ones. i wish i could recommend it to people in its present state. it is a really great game but painfully inaccessible. i hope they fix it.
i also played through two splatoon splatfests. i picked team dog and team water slides. splatfests are fun.
i also pick up MGSV: ground zeroes from time to time. its fun to play a mission a few times and all that. i am very excited for the phantom pain in a couple months (not even!!)
also there was a terraria update. how many of you play that? it's cool. i like it
question this month: when do you buy games? i guess this maybe excludes tiny steam purchases

I'm similar to Risballa, I only buy games/bundles when they're 75% or more off on Steam, I get the ones I want whenever they reach that low
UNLESS they're Wii (U) games. I like to get the physical copies so I get them early because they will go out of stock, around here anyway. I'm happy to say that as of my last birthday I decided I finally have all the Wii games I want. (Finished collection with the two main Zelda Wii games)
Sooo... Xenoblade Chronicles. I reached level 50 which is cool. I unlocked a dude's ability to fight completely naked with a boost to his agility/aggro and am currently enjoying making use of it, but I wonder if it's necessarily the best approach, as he seems to die more easily. At this point I've played all the characters so far (played mostly Melia [the spellcaster]), but every time I go against a boss, it seems inevitable that I HAVE to play with Shulk (the main character). When I die fighting a boss, I switch to Shulk and it becomes a cakewalk. I'm sure I could win with Melia if I equip right and practice enough but it's not much of a choice.
Anyway I've been playing that for a loooooong time so I'm taking a break from that to play Skyward Sword. Motion controls yaaaaaay. Seriously I really prefer the motion plus method of menu navigation, with the cursor travelling relative to wherever your hand is. It's so comfortable when I can rest my hand wherever I want. It's preferable to having to point directly at the TV monitor.
When playing with a partner we finished the main game in Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze but not 100% yet. Maybe we'll play Castle Crashers next. Maybe Rocket League! Was glad to hear about splitscreen feature.
Still playing a little Risk of Rain.
Oh, and I got a couple of Amiibos for my birthday! I can't wait to try using them in Mario Maker.

Xenoblade was cool, using the naked evade tanking is really interesting to try but you need to set up the skills to make that even more viable. skyward sword was one of my favorite zeldas, but it suffers from a lack of diversity. it tends to just retread the same 4 areas with "new unlocked bits." you could say that fleshes out the zones a bit but it gets a bit tiring. some of the "mini games" are dumb.

kerbal space program sounds interesting It's one of those games that i just lose hours in playing. It's fun to billy-goat around in but you'll need to read up a little bit if you wanna do the career mode without bankrupting yourself, as it's not that intuitive. Nothing like building a rocket, creating a stable orbit and then using your periapsis speed up to throttle to the moon, or their mars equivalent ( duna)*... or even mercury ( moho)* or pluto ( eeloo)*. that is, assuming you have the delta-V to make the return trip... What's also cool is it's open to a lot of experimentation and creativity. With the right parts you could create a spaceplane capable of taking off from a runway, achieving orbit, flying to the moon, then flying back. All of this is unlocked with the science tech tree. You can gain science by using science instruments in various biomes and areas of space/other planets, then bringing the data back in one piece (though you can also transmit the data remotely for a little less science). You can build space stations, build lander labs, it's really a very very big and rewarding game if you put the right amount of effort and research. there's also a big modding community for KSP, adding in things like detailed clouds and realistic atmosphere behavior, expanded rocket parts, warp drives, fuel mining technology (mine a spot on another planet to extract more fuel, shit like that). i love KSP a lot *links

also matt and i played LISA: The Painful RPG last week for our podcast and holy shit that game is awesome. it's brutally relentless in kicking you in the balls around every turn, not because of game difficulty but because of a billy-goated up grim storyline peppered with dark humor. highly recommend.

I only play hearthstone right now. Next game I buy will be fallout 4, and that'll probably be it for awhile. I used to buy more games but I don't really play as much as I used to.
