Ive been working in the music industry for 2 yrs now and i come across some new and old stuff at work, on the radio etc. etc.
Let this be the place I share with you songs from my Shazam and briefly review them.
I will be going in chronological order from the first song I shazam'd-- I will not skip any songs other than repeats.
I will attempt to do 3 songs a day.

1. rakira - "Tsuki Akira" i like classical piano, and this tune is nice. basic structure but piano is always pretty. very videogamey.... i wouldnt be surprised if this was in Kingdom Hearts or some anime. would recommend for lonesome car rides with cigarettes. reminds me of playing GunBound and MapleStory in 3rd grade 6/10 2. The Thrills - "Big Sur" Not really sure "why" i shazam'd this. poppy alternative folk, reminds me of the Flaming Lips a lot. if thats your thing, its definitely a song. no real bridge or movement, just a song. 5/10 3. Built to Spill - "Car" I like this! very lo-fi, DIY rock. the melodies and lyrics are pretty untamed. i dig the breakdowns before the chorus, very noisey. 8/10

4. The La's - "There She Goes"
I guess i didnt know the artist of this song. obviously a great pop song. 6/10
5. R.E.M. - "Carnival of Sorts"
I'm a big fan of 80's music, and this drum beat and tone is a perfect example of the classic 80's sound i love. even within that genre, this track has a lot of noise and punk to the feel. makes sense why REM was huge. 8/10
6. Neu! - Fur Immer (Forever)
Fans of Radiohead know pretty well the Krautrock sound and scene, of which Neu! are top-tier members of. this track is probably Neu!'s most popular or sound-defining; the pulse, drive, layered sounds, and progressive build. Great track, did not mind listening to all 11+ minutes today. 9/10

7. Talking Heads - "The Great Curve"
Pretty popular Talking Heads tune, i would think. one of my fav, at least. hectic afro funk rhythms and the call-response chorus is awesome. this song is all rhythm !!! 8/10
8. Spanky and Our Gang - "Leopard Skin Phones"
lol. i think you can tell why i shazam'd this... the lyrics are literal and funny. though as i listen to it, it does have a charming Beatles production. honestly I think fans of Phish would like this song. for me tho... 4/10
9. Jean-Luc Ponty - "New Country"
What would sound at first like an instrumental blue grass tune, this track actually has some interesting rhythm changes and some electronic additions that give it a more modern sound. it sounds like The Outlaws combined with Rush... not even lying. kinda groovy! 6/10

10. Samaan - "Crew"
Took me forever to find any kind of link to this song. Instrumental break beat loop with some weird gospel, electronica, and funk layers. meh 4/10
11. Jerome Kern - "The Way You Look Tonight"
Nice little jazz ensemble feel. Almost like Its Always Sunny music. Sinatra could croan over this. 6/10
12. Hop Along - "Waitress"
This group is from Philly, so ive been able to see them live and see them grow! Honestly, this group is gonna blow Philly's music scene up. great punky and alternative feel, and her vocals KILL. like really, best vocals of 2015. 8/10

13. CHIWONISO MARAIRE - "Zvichapera"
nice little african sounding tune. marimbas, call and response vocals. pleasant song low end vocals are dope. 7/10
14. T.P. Orchestre Poly-rythmo - "Iya Me Dji Ki Bi Ni"
Similar to the song above, very rhythm driven song though in a more latin style. the song just drives through, no real changes or breaks. good funk tune tho. 7/10
15. Does It Offend You, Yeah? - "With a Heavy Heart (I Regret to Inform You)"
Hard pumpin, club rockin, dance rock song. Very similar to LCD Soundsystem style of minimalist vocals and music. I was fist pumping before writing this so... 8/10

16. Yeasayer - "2080"
I dont really know a lot of Yeasayer but this song feels very animal collective + my morning jacket. 8/10
17. Foxing - Bit By Dead Bee Pt II
emo indie stuff right here. personally biased to love this music but if you like progressive hardcore stuff like Circa Survive. grand indie sound like Arcade Fire too. 9/10
18. George Garzone - "Crescent"
Nice jazz quartet piece. cool dual saxophone leads. swing feel. put this on with some wine. pretty standard jazz. 7/10

19. John David Souther - "Lullaby"
Short little diddy. Nice tune though, nice structure even for 1:39. Probs listen to this guy more. old school voice. van morrison fans yes. 6/10
20. Natalia Clavier - "Si Amor Llega"
Trip hop break beat like Big Sir / Portishead. Vocals like Camille. pretty. pretty chill. would recommend. 7/10
21. Love Club - "Distant"
this song reminded me of M83 with more live instruments. song didnt really hold my attention. 4/10

22. Dan Deacon - "When I Was Done Dying"
Seen dan deacon live, and love what he tries to do. just fun dance fun, pure and simple. african polyrhythms, animal collective psych folk, electro pop dance; pretty classic Dan Deacon sound. 8/10
23. Stars - "Hum"
This track started off really strong for me, very Smashing Pumpkins sludgy shoe gaze feel. but then it kind of just lost my interest as it become a pretty basic 90's rock song. Not a bad song necessarily, but cant think of anything special. 6/10
24. Lower Dens - "I Am The Earth"
I really like the songwriting in this song. 3 minutes in is constant build, definitely worth it. you like dis if you like The Antlers or David Bowie (rip). 9/10
