Being ignorant and not giving a shit are two different things Lack of empathy is ignorance without empathy you lose a major part of what is being human

I always liked to think of true free will as something that would allow you to make different choices if you were to repeat a certain period of time: say you have to make a decision apparently based on nothing, maybe you had to choose what you were going to have for breakfast and you just chose at random, not really thinking about it. If you turned back time in a way that everything is exactly the same (meaning you don't remember any time travelling), you would always make the same decision, everything would happen exactly the same way, unless there are actually random stuff happening at an elemental level that could slightly change how your brain works and end up choosing something different. If there is nothing random, there either is a higher power that controls these things or the Universe is a sad sad place. I guess I'm just failing to make the connection between your idea of free will and god. So assuming there are absolutely no random occurrences in the universe, and everything has some sort of pattern, can there not be just naturally occurring patterns? Why does there have to be a higher power? There ARE natural patterns everywhere. I think it's kind of silly to say 'If you went back in time then you'd be you back in time' that is essentially what you're saying. If I went back to when I was 5 without knowing it, why would I make different decisions? I mean yeah I guess your decisions in life are based upon your environment and circumstances, sooo...I guess I would make the same exact decisions. Everyone is somewhat 'destined' to live a certain type of life based upon who gave birth to you and what not, unless something extraordinary happens, but what does that have to do with a higher power? That's just the natural order of things. If a homeless woman gives birth to you from inside a greasy trash can, you're probably kinda billy-goated. Seems natural to me. I guess I'm just not getting it.

I guess I didn't really make that much of an effort to explain it any better because that would result in a wall of text and wasted time but most of your post is really just agreeing with me. With the God part I was just trying to say that with no randomness, then the only way to have different outcomes from the same situation would be with magic, that's all.
