Whoa I didn't billy-goating know that. The vote should become inactive or invalid and those people should get to revote

iirc some states it doesn't happen, some states it happens but you can order your vote to be changed, some states simply lock you in
idk ben was the one talking about it

ok so it wasn't in this thread I guess but Benjaman made the point once that the voting system is bad because it locks you in, ie if you vote for bernie and he loses your vote goes to hillary ive been thinking about that and it makes sense. I mean, the primaries system is bullshit but if it is in place, it needs mechanisms to prevent voter fraud or abuse, right. like what's stopping a bunch of republicans from crashing in the democrats' primaries and helping elect an incompetent candidate? well, if the vote is locked, then you've just played yourself this makes me sad because it is essentially what happened in the 1912 elections rip Teddy, you were too good for this country to have a third term, but I will be DAMNED if that fat son of a bitch got a second one

I mean, the primaries system is bullshit but if it is in place, it needs mechanisms to prevent voter fraud or abuse, right. like what's stopping a bunch of republicans from crashing in the democrats' primaries and helping elect an incompetent candidate? well, if the vote is locked, then you've just played yourself let me clarify: the "lock" would only be true in spirit, you can get out of it. the idea is- for some (most) states, you can only vote democrat if youre registered as a democrat. so if you feel the bern and want to show it, you register as democrat and give him your vote in my state of NY for example now, bern inevitably loses and now hillary is the democratic nominee. youre a democrat, so naturally your affiliation is set for her and you dont need to do a thing you CAN go, in that intervening time, and de-register from being a democrat. it's not so much a lock as it is a trap so, nothing prevents a mass of republicans from registering as democrats and then voting in ronald mcdonald to campaign against trump, then all voting for trump HERES THE THING THOUGH: i was mostly wrong. while they use those numbers to boast (hillary can say how many democrats there are ready to vote even if half registered to vote for bernie), you are free to vote for whomever you want. i was incorrect/misled when registering my ID

what prevents that is, nobody is organized enough to do something like that. its hard enough getting a bunch of pot smokers to vote for bernie, imagine getting a group of people to give up their primary vote to make a large enough dent in the sincere voters of the other party AND THEN all deregister and etc. much easier just to ask the banks for dough and smear them on TV

well- i wasnt misled. the lady was confused and maybe didnt know that the primary and general election were different things so she asserted i would be locked in if i checked any box on my application when really that only applied for the primary. there goes our educated electorate

Yeah voter fraud is a nonissue right
Grue you basically just allied with the repubs that keep demanding ID to vote (which they say is to prevent fraud but actually just makes it harder for minorities to vote)

fair enough. they made me wait like two hours until i had to pee to give me a ct scan because apparently "im a lesbian" isn't good enough reason for them to assume im not pregnant or just give me the waiver to sign that i know they have
