i'm more of the opinion that existence is too complex to reduce to such simple human values

if you could prove god with science it wouldnt be god why the billy-goat not if there's a real creator of the universe then why is the only knowledge about it limited to a few alleged sightings from a few barbaric billy-goatasses from thousands of years ago sounds like you're just trying to dodge accountability Judaism doesn't recognize individual revelations of God to be meaningful, hence why we take issue with every other religion. Our tradition holds that (niki will love this) 600,000 men (between the ages of 20-60; plus wives, children, and elderly over 60) totaling about 3 million people, were witness to God speaking to Moses at Sinai. A guy going to a cave or having a dream and telling the world about it doesn't count in our book. Also, there is a line in deuteronomy that says if god were to reveal himself like this, in a mass revelation fashion, then our claim would be up for discussion. So far, no other religion has made such a claim, so we're cool.

Why should it? The bible is already pretty long? Why does it need to mention this of all things? It's not going to change your ~120 years of life.
At the same time, it can be argued it does. The creation story in genesis is essentially a telling of the big bang. Before you even read the first word, you realize, there is nothing. Then, as you begin, there is a beginning that god creates. The various days talk about the water and land separating, then plants, then animals, then people. The RambaN, a famous Jewish commentator, wrote that all of creation was contained into something the size of a mustard seed before god created everything. Mind you, he stated that in the 12th or 13th century.
But I digress, how do we get ~14 billion years from 6 days? If time is relative to space, and the universe expands, the way we understand a day today as 24 hours must contain a different amount of time back then versus today. It's not unfathomable to think that how we recognize that a 24 hour period at the beginning of time contained billion of years in our current scope of time relation. if that's so, 8 bil + 4 bil + 2 bil + 1 bil + .5 bil + .25 bil = 15.75 billion years. Also realize, the 13.8 or whatever number they current believe to be the age of the universe is only an approximation since they haven't captured light ALL the way back to the very very first moment of big bang. I think by current statistics, the theologic estimation would be within a standard deviation of approximation to the scientific one.

Ouch, that article is painfully wrong at least in it's jewish "facts". The 40 days and 40 nights is because that's how long it rained for. The flood lasted for years. I'd have to look into the commentaries to see if they say a specific number.

just out of interest is there a set number when a group of people become enough to qualify as a mass revelation? because there are (disputable) cases where the virgin mary revealed herself to up to 100 or so people

I know 600,000 is supposed to refer to the whole nation of israel at that time, meaning those who left egypt. Still, that's a good question which I'll ask around. Also, what instance are you talking about? 100 people watched god bang her or what?
